What’s Your Pleasure?
Greater Binghamton offers an abundance of touring options for your group.
- Active: Walking trails traverse the landscape, from the Vestal
Rail Trail to downtown’s river-walk. Wander through the Cutler Botanic Garden or
Binghamton University’s Nature Preserve. Bring those sneakers!
- Dining: Have you tried a Spiedie? Greater Binghamton
is famous for the discovery of this delicious grilled treat. Stop by Lupo’s
to taste the real deal, and while you are there you can buy some sauce to take home
with you. Looking more upscale? The Number 5 Restaurant, Cortese Italian-American
Restaurant, or Plantation House will please you. Or perhaps you’d like a delightful
treat of home-made Pat Mitchell’s Ice Cream.
- History: Take a step back in time at the elegantly appointed
Phelps Mansion Museum and tour one our most historic homes. The Roberson Museum
& Science Center also began as a family home and now also houses the Binghamton
Welcome Center which tells our town’s story of growth from Manufacturing to Computers
to Aerospace technology. The Endicott Visitors Center will enthrall you with
the humble beginning of IBM (yes in Endicott, NY) and the Endicott Johnson legacy.
- Starry Eyed: The Kopernik Observatory is the largest public
access observatory in the Northeast. Another great celestial option is the
Planetarium tour at The Roberson Museum & Science Center.
- Pure and Natural: Do your groups prefer farm-fresh tours?
The Cider Mill is an authentic working mill that is open from August through November.
Nothing tastes better than fresh pressed apple cider and hot doughnuts. The
Greater Binghamton landscape is also dotted with family owned, tourist friendly
farms. Be sure to visit Green Brothers Apple Hills, Lone Maple Farm, or Jackson’s
Farm are just a few of our great options. The Windy Hill Candle Factory features
50,000 locally made candles.
- Artsy & Entertaining: Greater Binghamton’s arts scene
is growing. Downtown features a monthly “First Friday Art Walk” to highlight
our emerging art gallery & studio locations. Live music is a part of the
celebration ~ a delightful event any time of the year. Antique Row is a few blocks
from the City center and features various types of storefronts with treasures from
yesteryear. Opera, Symphony, Theatre….we have that covered too! Our
numerous performance facilities are alive with entertainment options whenever you
are here.
- Imagination: “Imagine if you will” that famous phrase began
every episode of the “Twilight Zone” television series. The creative mind
behind the series, Rod Serling, proudly referred to Binghamton as his hometown.
We proudly pay homage to Serling at several sites throughout the area, and coming
soon – The Rod Serling Museum next to The Bundy: Museum ~ Galleries ~ Showroom on
Main Street, Binghamton.
- Get Wild: Visit the Binghamton Zoo at Ross Park, the 5th oldest
zoo in the nation. The hilly terrain offers great views while seeing the animals
that reside there.
