Binghamton University

Binghamton University is one of four university centers within the State University
of New York system. The Fiske Guide to Colleges 2005 calls Binghamton the “premier
public university in the northeast.” Binghamton enrolls nearly 14,000 students in
bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral programs.
Binghamton University participates in Division I athletics and opened its $33.1 million
Event Center in 2004. The 156,000 square-foot Events Center boasts a contemporary
design and covers more than one acre. At its highest point, the three-level Events
Center measures 65 feet. Seating capacity is 6,000 - 8,000, depending on the event.

Broome Community College
Broome Community College is a comprehensive community college supervised by State
University of New York and sponsored by the County of Broome.
BCC generally enrolls 6,000 full and part time students in its credit programs. Those
programs are divided into the following areas: Liberal Arts, Human and Public Service,
Business, Office and Information Management, Health Services and Technology-Engineering-Computing.
The College is a member of the Middle State Association of Colleges and Schools.
Its curriculums are registered by the State Education Department and, accredited,
where appropriate, by specific career-accrediting organizations.
Additionally, the Center for Community Education registers thousands of area residents
each semester in both vocational and recreational non-credit courses. The Corporate
Service office regularly sponsors skill updates to employees of area business and
industry.
BCC is also home to the Greater Binghamton Area's newest community asset, an Ice
Center, completed in the fall of 2002. The Ice Center will be home to the BCC Hornets
Hockey team, Southern Tier Hockey Association, Broome County High School Hockey
Association, Binghamton Area Girls Hockey Association, and the Binghamton Figure
Skating Club. The rink will also offer public skating sessions and lessons. The
